Who is Ronjan Sodhi?
Ronjan Sodhi is a professional Indian sportsman who practices the game of trap shooting. Double trap shooting is a shooting sport, wherein participates use a shotgun to attempt to shoot two clay disks being released away from them at a high speed. He has been awarded the Arjuna Award by the government of India.
Where did he grow up?
Sodhi was born in Firozepur, Punjab on 23rd October, 1979. His ambitions were supported by his father, also a keen shooter, who would take Sodhi to the farm to shoot clay targets. It was only after he moved to Delhi for his schooling, that he was enrolled in a shooting range.
What are some of his achievements?
He is the only Indian marksman to hold a number one ranking in the ISSF World rankings. He shot a perfect 50 out of 50 at the Lonato ISSF World Cup, Italy in 2010, setting a new world record and winning a gold medal. He won the platinum medal at the Commonwealth Games held in 2010 and a gold medal in the Asian Games the same year. In 2011, he won the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup held at Al Ain, in the UAE.
