Who is Ranbir Kapoor?
Ranbir Kapoor is an Indian actor who hails from a long line of Bollywood personalities. His parents, Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor, were both Bollywood actors and have acted opposite each other and tied the knot in January 1980. Their son came along 2 years later in September and was named after his grandfather Raj Kapoor whose first name is actually Ranbirraj.
Childhood and Education
The young actor grew up in Mumbai and attended Bombay Scottish High School. He is the first male in his family to complete his 10th grade examinations. After attending HR college in Mumbai for a while, Ranbir set off to study acting at the famed Lee Strasburg Institute and School of Visual Arts where he trained as a method actor.
Bollywood Debut
On his return to India, Ranbir took up a position as assistant to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on his 2005 film Black. He was soon offered the lead role in Bhansali’s next film Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. Although the film itself was not a success, both Ranbir and his co-star’s performances were well received by critics. After a string of mediocre movies, Ranbir’s commercial success came with Wake Up Sid, a coming-of-age movie about a spoilt and self-centered character.
Football Passion
Ranbir Kapoor has proved that he is a force to reckon with in the Indian film industry. He has mentioned in more than one interview that he would like to change the type of movies produced in Bollywood. The actor intends to stay in cinema for a while before retiring to become a football coach.
