A very long time ago, there lived an old man in a village with his three sons. The man was very fond of smoking tobacco in terracotta or clay pipes, popularly known as pikkas.
Over a period of time, all his three sons grew up and he got all three of them married one after the other.
One day, the eldest son was invited by his wife’s parents to attend a marriage in their family. Being the first son-in-law of the family, he was treated like a king. A huge feast was laid in front of him.
The wife’s sister prepared a pikka for him. Only, this time it was different. The girl was extremely mischievous and instead of filling the pikka with tobacco, she filled it with salt and just covered the top with a little tobacco.
The man took the pikka in his hands and blew into it. Immediately, something really startling happened. The salt in the pikka crackled, as it caught fire and sparks flew from it. The son and his wife’s family were surprised as they had never seen anything as beautiful.
The man continued blowing into the pikka, and for once, he blew so hard that the sparks flew high up in the sky. They got stuck there forever and became stars.
