Green Science Windmill Generator – Toy Review

Green Science Windmill Generator – Toy Review

Children often do not have the opportunity to see concepts they study in class translated into a functional example. Alternate energy resources and renewable energy are presently hot topics and it is important to make children understand their relevance. What better way to do so, than to use hands-on activities and DIY Kits?

Windmills have always been something children have studied or at best, seen from afar. The Green Science Windmill Generator Kit is an easily accessible and simple to understand and explain DIY Kit. It is an educative and informative tool to explain wind energy as a renewable resource to children.

The kit is easy to assemble as it comes with detailed instructions and visual aids to support them. Children will also learn about recycling as they can collect and reuse plastic bottles to attach to their windmills. After constructing their kits, children will get the opportunity to see the LED bulb on the windmill glow when wind energy is translated into electricity.

A few difficulties with the kit, however, that the blades of the windmill require external boosts of wind to turn fast enough to light up the LED bulb. For those purposes, using a blow-drier or placing it under a fast fan will help turn the blades.
